Review North is published by Publish North Media, the trading name of Stephen Davies. This page explains what information we collect when you use reviewnorth.co.uk, why we collect it and what you can do about it. If you have a question, email editor@reviewnorth.co.uk.

Newsletter sign-ups

When you sign up for The Briefing, we collect your email address so we can send you the newsletter. Sign-ups are handled by our email provider, Beehiiv. We keep your address until you unsubscribe, which you can do at any time using the link in every edition. We rely on your consent to send the newsletter.

The sign-up form is provided by Beehiiv and sets security cookies that help protect it from automated abuse. These do not track you across other sites.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, organisation, role and phone number, the type and subject of your enquiry, your message, any embargo details, links and files you send, and image credits and rights confirmation for any images you supply. We use this only to read and reply to your message. Submissions are stored with Cloudflare and kept for 12 months, then deleted. Notifications are sent to us using Resend. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that helps stop spam. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries.

Analytics

We want to know which articles people read so we can improve the site. We use two tools for this:

• Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you.
• Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, uses cookies to measure how the site is used. We use it only for statistics. We do not use it for advertising and we do not link it to advertising services.

You can stop Google Analytics measuring your visits by installing Google's free opt-out browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.

Advertising

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we do not sell your information.

Who else handles your information

Cloudflare hosts the site and stores contact form submissions. Beehiiv manages newsletter subscriptions. Resend sends contact form notifications. Google provides Google Analytics. Some of these companies process information outside the UK, under safeguards recognised by UK data protection law.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. You can also object to how we use it. Email editor@reviewnorth.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
