Sunderland-headquartered OnPath Energy reported an operating profit of £22.7m for the 12 months to December 2025 as it set out an ambition to invest more than £1bn in UK clean energy projects by 2030.

The private renewable energy developer reported turnover of £73.4m for the year. For the previous reporting period, the 15 months to September 2024, it reported turnover of £95.7m and an operating profit of £69.4m.

The periods are not directly comparable. OnPath said wind yields were below average in 2025, but that it had delivered solid commercial returns while shifting the business towards developing and building new onshore wind farms.

The strategy includes selling mature assets and reinvesting the proceeds in new projects. OnPath completed the sale of seven English onshore wind farms to ERG earlier this year. It said the transaction released capital to support new development across the UK.

The company also acquired Milton Keynes Wind Farm in Buckinghamshire and Pates Hill Wind Farm in West Lothian at the beginning of 2025. It has since entered into an option agreement to acquire a majority stake in three onshore wind farms under development in South Lanarkshire, subject to project milestones and other conditions.

OnPath said it expects to add 73MW to its operating portfolio in the coming months through the energisation of Mill Rig Wind Farm in South Lanarkshire and Barnsdale Solar Park in West Yorkshire.

The commissioning of Common Farm Solar Park, a co-located solar and battery-storage project, in South Yorkshire is expected to follow.

Simon Fisher, chief financial officer at OnPath Energy, said: “Wind yields in 2025 were below average, but we have still delivered solid commercial returns while continuing the evolution of the business towards a primary focus on developing and building new onshore wind farms across the UK.”

The company has also expanded its operating footprint. It invested in larger offices for its Scottish team in 2025 and has opened a Cambridge office to support its work in the south of England.

OnPath said its wider community commitments include a target of £1m of local economic benefit for every megawatt of generating capacity at new onshore wind farms, with 65% of lifetime wind-farm spending targeted within the local supply chain. It also said it awarded more than £1.2m in grants through its community funds in 2025.

The next milestones are the planned energisation of Mill Rig and Barnsdale, followed by commissioning at Common Farm.

The company is based in Houghton-le-Spring and was acquired by Brookfield Asset Management in 2023.
